Building up on the successful outcome of the designs for the first Biershenke, and again working closely with a team of known consultants, KSdesign reshaped and upgraded the premises of a building that was previously used as a Bavarian Beer Hall in this quirky and unusual site under the railways arches. The site had been abandoned for nearly 20 years and the team had to overcome structural issues as well as the usual dampness and asbestos presence typical of locations of this kind. One of the positive aspects of this process of refurbishment was that the original building fabric was exposed revealing the brickwork and a number of hidden compartments and chambers that were made into features.
Although the main focus was the redesign of the premises, we were also responsible for the working drawings, detail design and Building Regulations approval.
