Our design involvement with this project started at RIBA stage 4 when we were asked to rationalise the flats layout and make the building compliant with Building Regulations.
The development had already gained planning permission for the demolition of the existing pair of semidetached Victorian houses and the construction of an eight dwelling car free block of flats.
We started by designing an elegant ambulant disabled staircase that makes use of a high contrast palette of colours and maximises the natural light in the communal area. We also revised the interior of the flats, including the ones located at basement level, to make the most of the natural light and ventilation.
