KSdesign are proud to have designed this stylish building in a sensitive location close to Network Rail assets and within the boundaries of a conservation area.
From the early design stages, it was clear that a maximum two-story building would be suited to the site and surroundings. With exploiting the full potential of the site being a vital priority, we introduced a basement with associated lightwells to create a space with optimal natural light and ventilation that makes the most of its location without the drawbacks of being underground. We placed the staircase connecting all floors next to a light well and in front of a glazed curtainwall, which spans three levels.
The basement also has generous floor to ceiling heights and houses three bedrooms with two en-suite and one family bathroom, as well as a utility room. This arrangement allows for a large living area on the ground floor level with an open plan kitchen living dining arrangement and a separate TV room. The main bedroom with en-suite bathroom, dressing room and terrace is situated on the first floor. A fifth bedroom is also located on the first floor.
KSdesign were involved in all RIBA stages of the project including design, planning, Building Regulations and working drawings.
